Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen once again made headlines on and off the pitch after inspiring Galatasaray to a 3-1 win over Alanyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday evening.
The Nigerian striker delivered a goal and an assist at RAMS Park, but it was his post-match comments that drew even greater attention following his emotional outing against Juventus in the Champions League, Footballrover reports.
Victor Osimhen Explains Emotional Moment After Juventus Clash
Days earlier, Victor Osimhen had remained stone-faced after scoring in extra time against Juventus in the Champions League.
His muted reaction raised concerns, especially given the magnitude of the moment.
After choosing not to celebrate his extra-time goal against Juven, Osimhen addressed questions about his emotions and his future.
Osimhen made it clear why he feels settled and committed, while speaking to the club’s website.
“I am very happy at Galatasaray. Every player is emotional. I celebrate most of the time, but there are times when I don’t celebrate. I was emotional in the last match, and I had a reason.
Since I arrived, both my family and I have been having a great time with the president, the coach, the team, and everyone.
They make everything very easy for us. I am happy here. I love my club, I love my coach, and I love my fans. We conduct our business within a framework of mutual love and respect.”
Those words form the core of his six clear reasons for staying — ease of integration, personal happiness, love for the club, admiration for the coach, appreciation of the fans, and a culture built on mutual respect.
On the pitch, Victor Osimhen continues to justify that affection. Against Alanyaspor, he set up the second goal before sealing the result late on.
The 27-year-old now has 10 league goals and four assists this season, with all four assists coming in his last four Super Lig matches.
He has also scored in back-to-back games in domestic and European competitions.
The former Serie A star has delivered 17 goals and 6 assists in 25 games this season.
Osimhen Focused on Title Race and Big Matches Ahead
Despite the growing attention around him, Osimhen insists the focus remains on the task ahead.
“WE’RE TAKING IT ONE MATCH AT A TIME.”
He expanded on that mindset while looking ahead to crucial fixtures.
“The Beşiktaş match is a critical one. We’re taking it one match at a time. Of course, it will be a big match. A very high-quality team awaits us, but we also have a very high-quality team.
We’ll go there for 3 points! It won’t be easy. First the Beşiktaş match, then Liverpool, but let’s not forget that we also have a cup match against the team we just played against! There are many more matches ahead of us until the end of the season.
İlkay is someone I respect very much; he is very valuable to me. He is a person known worldwide. He is both calm and motivating. He is someone we can always talk to. He is very visionary.
When he brought me the captain’s armband, it felt strange. I gave it back so he could lead us. He helps us every time he comes into the game. He is someone who deserves love.”
Galatasaray currently sit top of the Turkish Super Lig table with 58 points from 24 matches, strengthening their title charge. Victor Osimhen’s consistency has been central to that push.
The striker also spoke warmly about the connection he shares with supporters since arriving at the club, even during his loan spell.
“THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN DONE SINCE I ARRIVED ARE VERY VALUABLE TO ME.”
“I didn’t know the fans were prepared. It was a surprise. Everything they’ve done since I arrived is very precious to me. First, I came on loan. Words can’t describe it. Such loving fans. We have a fanbase that creates a special bond with the players, beyond just football. I’m truly very happy.
I agree with what was written on the banner. We are a family, and family is more important than anything. I’m at a club I love, with people I love very much. We’re together through good times and bad! We’re enjoying every moment. I’m very grateful for their support.”
For Victor Osimhen, the message is clear. Performance, respect, and connection define his journey at Galatasaray — and for now, his focus remains firmly on winning matches and chasing silverware.
