Hull City and Fulham have received timely injury boosts, with Semi Ajayi and Samuel Chukwueze both closing in on returns ahead of key fixtures in the Championship and Premier League respectively.
Semi Ajayi is edging closer to full fitness after weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring problem suffered at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Footballrover reports.
Semi Ajayi Nears Hull City Return After Injury Layoff
The Super Eagles defender has missed Hull City’s last seven matches in all competitions, leaving a gap in defence during a demanding run in the Championship.
Head coach Sergej Jakirović confirmed that the Nigerian centre-back has stepped up his recovery after returning to full training.
“He (Ajayi) trained with us normally today, which is great news. We will see if he’s with us in Portsmouth or will be in the squad at Ipswich on Tuesday.”
The update puts Ajayi in contention for Saturday’s trip to Portsmouth, with an alternative return possible in the midweek clash at Ipswich.
His presence would strengthen Hull City’s defensive options as they look to steady their campaign.
Beyond club football, a sustained run of minutes could also sharpen Ajayi’s match fitness ahead of future Nigeria duty.
Chukwueze Back in Contention for Spurs Clash
At Craven Cottage, Samuel Chukwueze is pushing for involvement when Fulham host Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The winger missed last weekend’s 3-1 win over Sunderland due to a minor calf issue but has returned to training this week.
Marco Silva provided an update on the squad’s fitness situation.
“Chukwueze and the others have been in and out of contention, but they’ve had a good week. We have another session and we’re going to make a decision after that,” he told the club’s website.
Chukwueze, who joined Fulham on a season-long loan from AC Milan, has contributed three goals and four assists in 13 Premier League appearances.
His direct style and creativity could offer Fulham an added attacking spark against Spurs.
With both Semi Ajayi and Samuel Chukwueze nearing full fitness, it could be an important weekend for the Nigerian internationals as they aim to make immediate impacts for their respective clubs.
