The Falconets of Nigeria continued their commanding run at the 2025 WAFU B U20 Girls Cup in Benin, defeating the Black Princesses of Ghana 3-0 at the Omnisport Stadium, Adjohoun.
The win keeps Nigeria unbeaten in the tournament and strengthens their claim as favorites for the title.
Falconets Take Control Early with Brilliant Freekick
Nigeria opened the scoring in stunning fashion as Janet Akeremkowei curled a long-range freekick into the top corner in the 17th minute, leaving the Ghanaian goalkeeper stranded.
The early breakthrough set the tone for the encounter, and the young Nigerian side wasted no time extending their lead.
Just seven minutes later, Alaba Olabiyi doubled the advantage, tapping in from close range after a perfectly timed header fell her way.
The Falconets’ fast-paced combination play and clinical finishing ensured they took a comfortable 2-0 lead into halftime.
Falconets Secure Their Dominance in Second Half
Nigeria continued their relentless pressure after the break, and in the 61st minute, Kareem Ramotalahi made it 3-0, slotting home with composure after a slick build-up.
The goal highlighted the team’s unity and tactical discipline, as they controlled possession and dictated the tempo throughout the match.
With this result, the Falconets have won all three of their group matches, maintaining a perfect record and sending a clear message to the rest of the competition.
Their blend of skill, teamwork, and attacking flair makes them a formidable force in the U20 Women’s tournament.
The Falconets started off the tournament with a 3-1 victory over the Black Princesses before following it up with an impressive 3-0 win against hosts Benin.
So far, the Nigerian side has scored nine goals in three matches while conceding just one.
Looking ahead, the Falconets will face the Young Amazons of Benin tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., aiming to continue their unbeaten run.
