Super Falcons prospect Joy Omewa maintained her red-hot form, scoring twice to inspire Fortuna Hjørring to a dominant 6-1 victory over Kolding IF in the Danish Women’s League on Friday evening.
The 22-year-old Nigerian forward, who has become a standout performer in the A-Liga Women, has now raised her season tally to seven league goals and one assist in eight appearances, continuing her impressive streak of scoring in five consecutive matches, Footballrover reports.
Joy Omewa’s Brace Extends Fortuna’s Unbeaten Run
Omewa’s consistent performances have now seen her record 11 goals in just 12 matches across all competitions.
Despite Kolding’s early breakthrough — a 16th-minute strike from Sara Amby Kristensen — Fortuna showed their resilience and quickly shifted momentum.
Sarah Dyrehauge equalised in the 13th minute, and Tilde Johansson gave Fortuna the lead just before halftime with a composed finish in the 41st minute.
After the break, Rie Jorgensen struck in the 46th minute to widen the gap. Josefine Valvik and Florentina Olar-Spanu added quickfire goals in the 57th and 59th minutes, piling pressure on the hosts.
Omewa then took centre stage, converting a penalty in the 62nd minute before adding another composed finish just four minutes later.
Her goals sealed the win before she made way for Risako Watanabe in the 70th minute.
Fortuna Stay Top as Omewa Shines
The emphatic victory keeps Fortuna Hjørring at the top of the Danish A-Liga Women standings with 18 points from eight matches, having secured five wins and three draws to remain unbeaten this season.
Omewa’s prolific form has become a driving force behind the team’s success, and she’ll be hoping to keep up with the momentum in their next fixture.
