In a shocking South West Derby clash in the Nigeria Premier League, Sporting Lagos delivered a resounding blow to Remo Stars’ title dreams with a commanding 4-1 victory at the Onikan Stadium.
It was a derby-day delight for the hosts as an early penalty was converted by Lokosa, then a Paschal goal at the half-hour mark put them in front, Footballrover reports.
An own goal by Aliu gave the visitors slim hope before the Odubia double sealed the win and all three points.
The match kicked off with fervour as Junior Lokosa swiftly converted a penalty just five minutes into the game, setting the tone for Sporting Lagos’ dominance.

Paschal Onyekachi extended the lead with a goal at the half-hour mark, capitalising on an error by Remo Stars’ Kayode Bankole.
Despite Remo Stars’ efforts to claw back into the game, they could only manage an own goal by Aliu Salawudeen that left them trailing by a narrow margin as the first half concluded.
The second half saw no respite for Remo Stars as Phillip Odubia displayed his brilliance with an impressive overhead kick, adding to Sporting Lagos’ lead.
Barely nine minutes into the second half, an acrobatic stunner against his former side returned the game back to a two-goal lead for the hosts.

Odubia later doubled his tally, securing a convincing 4-1 victory for the home team. A goal-mouth scramble in the 60th minute saw Isaac’s cross turn into the Remo Stars goal.
The win propels the Tech Boys to 12th place in the NPFL table with 31 points, while the Sky Blue Stars slide down to 5th place with 39 points.
Looking ahead, Remo Stars will be hoping to bounce back from this shameful defeat as they host the defending champions in their next fixture, while Sporting Lagos seeks to maintain momentum with a visit to the Niger Tornadoes on the same day.
