Super Eagles forward Umar Sadiq delivered an impressive performance over the weekend, capping it off with an assist to inspire Valencia CF to a hard-earned victory over Deportivo Alavés when both sides met in La Liga on Sunday.

Sadiq provided the key contribution that brought his team back into the game, setting up the equaliser to make it 1–1 as Valencia fought hard to eventually secure a 3–2 home win over nine-man Alavés, Footballrover reports.

The 29-year-old forward did more than just create a goal. He also completed the most dribbles in the match (six), although he ended the game having lost the most duels (13).

Sadiq now has one goal and one assist so far this season after 14 appearances.

Valencia staged a dramatic late comeback to defeat Deportivo Alavés at Mestalla, earning a crucial win that lifted them seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Alavés made the perfect start when Lucas Boyé converted an early penalty after Guido Rodríguez fouled Toni Martínez.

Despite controlling possession, Valencia created little before halftime and went into the break trailing.

The hosts improved immediately after the restart, with Javi Guerra finishing from close range after good work by Umar Sadiq.

Alavés regained the lead in the 72nd minute as Boyé headed in from Denis Suárez’s corner. With time running out, defender Eray Cömert struck through a crowded box to level the score.

Deep into stoppage time, Hugo Duro won and converted a penalty to seal the comeback.

Frustration boiled over for Alavés as Antonio Blanco and Ander Guevara were sent off. The win lifted Valencia to 12th in La Liga and eased fears.

Meanwhile, in the Russian Premier League, Geoffrey Chinedu delivered a fantastic display as he opened his account for Krylya Sovetov with a brace to lead the team to a well-deserved victory over Dynamo Makhachkala.

Chinedu scored two first-half goals as Sovetov crushed their visitors 2-0 to secure the win and all three points at the Cosmos Arena.

Chinedu fired the hosts in front barely nine minutes into the game before doubling his tally in the 25th minute to seal the deal.

His brace was enough to earn him the Man of the Match for his impressive performance as they continue their fight to move away from the relegation zone.
