With momentum on their side following a gritty 1-0 victory over defending champions Edo Queens, the Sky Blue Ladies looked sharp and confident from the start.

Their Abuja-based opponents, Naija Ratels, entered the tie needing a response after squandering a lead and falling 2-1 to Nasarawa Amazons in their first match.

It was the Ikenne Ladies who stamped their authority early, with Bolaji Olamide firing home a 14th-minute strike that ultimately sealed the three points.

Despite pressure from the Ratels, Coach Wemimo Mathew’s disciplined side held firm to secure a second consecutive win without conceding.

Nasarawa Amazons roar in Super Six stalemate

In the day’s second fixture, Nasarawa Amazons and Bayelsa Queens played out a tense 1-1 draw—the first stalemate of the ongoing Super Six playoffs.

Initially delayed, the match began with a cautious first half that ended goalless.

The intensity picked up just 11 minutes into the second half when Janet Akekeromowei calmly slotted a penalty into the bottom left corner, giving Nasarawa Amazons a deserved lead.

Bayelsa Queens, however, hit back ten minutes later through Dooshima Tarnum, who came off the bench to haunt her former club with a fine equaliser.

Both sides pushed for a winner, but the match ended level—leaving their qualification hopes still wide open.

Their back-to-back wins have turned their fortune around, and if they keep this form, a place in Nigeria’s top women’s football hierarchy could be theirs.

Nasarawa Amazons, now with four points, also remain firmly in the title conversation, while Bayelsa Queens will be hoping to bounce back strongly to keep pace despite maintaining the same points.

Meanwhile, in the final fixture of the day, Edo Queens and Rivers Angels were unable to ignite their campaigns, as the two sides played out a 1-1 draw.
