The coach expressed his satisfaction with the team’s promotion while highlighting the need for improvements in fixture congestion to ensure fair play and player well-being.

Lakeside Queens topped Group B with an impressive 12 points from five games, demonstrating their determination and skill on the field.

Coach Ganiyu Oluwatobi, the mastermind behind Lakeside Queens’ success, expressed his delight at the team’s promotion to the NWFL Premiership.

Recognizing the challenges they faced, the coach remarked;

“I already saw it coming despite it being difficult. We thank God for making it possible for us.”

Reflecting on their final game against Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens, Coach Ganiyu Oluwatobi highlighted the impact of their previous match against Sunshine Queens.

The Sunshine Queens game boosted us to score more goals because we knew that we are on the same point. We have a lot of talents and very young girls. They are going far.”

The coach’s confidence in his team’s ability proved well-founded as Lakeside Queens secured victory and solidified their position at the top of Group B.

However, amidst the celebrations, Coach Ganiyu Oluwatobi raised concerns regarding the fixture congestion in the NWFL Championship.

He called for a reconsideration of the scheduling, stating,

I want the organizers to improve on fixtures congestion. We didn’t play the normal game we ought to play… It is not encouraging to be playing almost every day.”

The coach advocated for a home-and-away format in the next season to provide the players with ample time for rest and self-improvement.

Looking ahead to their Premiership campaign, Coach Ganiyu Oluwatobi emphasized the need to strengthen the team further.

He acknowledged the support they receive from Honourable Kunle Soname and expressed optimism about building a formidable squad.

We need more to work on and to get more players to strengthen the team. We have good support from Honourable Kunle Soname. It is going to be easier for us to get a formidable team,” he stated.

Lakeside Queens’ exceptional performance in the NWFL Championship and their subsequent promotion to the NWFL Premiership mark a significant milestone for the Ikenne-based team.
