Rabiu Ali isn’t showing any signs of slowing down yet in NPFL as the 43-year-old Kano Pillars legend delivered a masterclass against Ikorodu City over the weekend, proving once again that class is permanent.
In a dominant display, Ali and his teammates schooled NPFL newcomers Ikorodu City in their season opener, securing a 3-0 victory at their adopted home, the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina, Footballrover reports.
At 43, Rabiu Ali continues to defy age and expectations, playing his 18th league season in the NPFL and still putting in a full 90 minutes on the pitch.
On Sunday, he added to his legacy with a spectacular brace that left him trending.
After a goalless first half, Pillars came alive in the second.
Mustapha Umar opened the scoring in the 62nd minute, handing Pillars a much-expected lead.
The veteran midfielder doubled the lead with a beautifully struck free-kick before sealing the victory with a second goal just seven minutes later.
Ali’s ability to command the game at his age is nothing short of extraordinary, and he remains one of the greatest players the Nigeria Premier League has ever produced.

Last season, he bagged 10 goals and provided nine assists for Usman Abdallah’s side, and he’s already off to a flying start in the 2024/25 campaign.
With their emphatic win, Kano Pillars are joint-top of the NPFL table alongside Sunshine Stars, who also recorded a 3-0 victory over Bayelsa United.
Rabiu Ali’s performance is a clear reminder that while others may come and go, legends like him continue to shine brightly.
