Ethan Nwaneri’s Champions League moment has put Mikel Arteta in an exciting cruise, but the Arsenal boss believes the youngster’s next challenge is maintaining that level.
The 17-year-old Nigerian starlet found the net in Arsenal’s 7-1 thrashing of PSV Eindhoven, registering his name into UCL history, Footballrover reports.
However, Arteta insists that while Nwaneri has immense talent, his real test lies in delivering top performances consistently.
Arteta demands consistency after Ethan Nwaneri’s UCL brilliance
Speaking after the match, Arteta dismissed the idea that Ethan Nwaneri needs extra motivation.
“I don’t think that he needs any pushing! You see him every time he has the ball what the intention is,” the Spaniard said.
“So, if the goals comes, it comes, and it’s great and really impressive again the way he behaved, the way he played tonight. It’s about consistency now, doing it again three days later in another big stadium,” he added.
Nwaneri’s quick rise through the ranks has been remarkable, and his goal against PSV only strengthens his quest as one of Hale End’s finest prospects.
Arsenal’s Champions League dominance excites Mikel Arteta
Beyond Nwaneri’s brilliance, Arteta was thrilled with Arsenal’s overall execution, claiming that It’s the overall reaction he wants.
“We were exceptional. We talked before the game, boxes in the Champions League are critical, you have to dominate them,” he explained.
“If we hadn’t done it in the first action, they would have scored a goal, and then the other one was a penalty, but we were phenomenal today. Willingness is for sure going to be there, execution is something else,” he concluded.
With Arsenal in commanding form, Ethan Nwaneri’s development remains a key storyline.
While Arteta demands consistency, he also recognises that the teenager possesses the drive and talent to make it happen as they now shift focus to their next fixture—
