Nigerian youngster Elijah Odede is doing magic in the Moldova Super Liga as he once again found the back of the net to lead his team, FC Sheriff, to a commanding victory over Sparta Selemet.
The 18-year-old forward put in a strong shift and capped it off with a goal as Sheriff thrashed their hosts 3-0 at the Stadionul Sătesc, Footballrover reports.
Elijah Odede Keeps Scoring for Sheriff in Moldova
Odede scored the second goal of the encounter, making it four in eight appearances for Sheriff in the Moldovan National Division.
This is already an improvement, as he went the entire last season with the same number of matches played but without a goal.
While the young forward grabbed headlines with his strike, his compatriot Abiodun Olaniyan came into action for the home team in the 29th minute, replacing the injured Petru Leuca.
Another Nigerian, 22-year-old midfielder Peter Ademo, also featured for Sheriff, coming in three minutes after Odede’s goal to replace Alesio Mija.
Sheriff Tiraspol first went ahead after Malian forward Mamady Diarra found the net in the 26th minute. That goal separated both sides at the break.
In the 71st minute, Odede doubled Sheriff’s lead before Cyrille Bayala sealed the victory three minutes from time, converting a late penalty.
The win pushed Sheriff to the top of the Moldovan Liga table with 22 points after nine rounds of matches.
After failing in their bid to qualify for European competitions, Odede and his teammates will now focus fully on their domestic title chase as they prepare to face Milsami next.
Olakunle Olusegun Strikes for FC Pari Nizhny in Russia
Meanwhile, in the Russia Premier League, Olusegun put the icing on the cake to ensure his team, FC Pari Nizhny, secured a comfortable home win over Dynamo Mahackala on Monday evening.
The 23-year-old forward scored the second goal of the encounter as Nizhny cruised past Dynamo 2-0 at the Mordovia Arena.
It was his first goal of the season after four appearances.
Juan Manuel Boselli had opened the scoring just 15 minutes into the match before Olusegun sealed the win with a decisive strike at the stroke of half-time.
Nizhny will now face Dynamo Moscow in their next fixture as they aim to secure back-to-back wins and climb further away from the drop zone.
