In a bold move that has quickly captured the attention of many football fans, ambitious footballer Derima Major has made a direct, spirited plea to Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) giants Enugu Rangers, asking for a trial opportunity with the club.
Following in the footsteps of fellow Nigerian Ola Great, who caught the eye of Spanish side Sevilla via a viral social media campaign, Derima is hoping his bold outreach will open the door to a dream move with the Flying Antelopes, Footballrover reports.
Derima Major’s audacious NPFL trial bid
Major, a versatile right and left winger and attacker, recently took to X to express his strong desire to join Rangers International through trial.
Having honed his skills playing professionally in both Somalia and Kenya, Major’s contract in Kenya has ended, and he is now eager to return home to play in the NPFL.
His heartfelt appeal was directed specifically to Rangers’ CEO, Amobi Ezeaku, whom he regards as “the man that makes dreams a reality”, asking for “a chance to showcase myself.”
He emphasised that it would be a “privilege to wear Rangers badge and fly it high,” a clear sign of Major’s ambition to become an NPFL superstar.
Why Rangers might eye Derima Major for their NPFL comeback
Rangers faced a truly disappointing 2024/25 NPFL campaign, failing to defend their 2023/24 title, which they lost to Remo Stars.
The Coal City side finished a lowly 10th place with just 52 points from 38 matches, missing out on CAF competitions.
With a record of 14 wins, 10 draws, and 14 defeats, Enugu Rangers are in clear need of regrouping and strengthening their squad to kick off the 2025/26 season on a solid note.
A fresh talent like Derima Major seeking an NPFL trial could offer a new dimension as Rangers seek to bounce back.
