Manchester United has officially confirmed and announced the signing of Real Madrid star – Carlos Casemiro in a move to strengthened their midfield options.

The Red Devils and the Brazilian midfielder reached an agreement to sign a 4-year contract through 2026, with an option for an additional season, for a reported sum of around £60 million plus any add-ons of £10 million to Madrid.

With his performance-based contract, Casemiro will be among Man Utd’s highest paid players and receive higher pay if he plays in the Champions League.

The Brazilian international joined Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, and Tyrell Malacia as the Red Devils’ fourth signings of this window.

Casemiro’s transfer to Old Trafford was fully finalized during the weekend, despite the fact that United appears to have missed out on Frenkie de Jong and Adrien Rabiot.

With nearly 300 matches under his belt from nine trophy-filled seasons at Santiago Bernabeu, Casemiro, who had three years left on his contract with Madrid, will surely provide a wealth of quality and experience to Erik ten Hag’s midfield.

The 30-year-old did, in fact, win five Champions Leagues with Los Blancos, four LaLiga titles, and three Club World Cups, and also scoring against Juventus in the 2017 final.

Casemiro, who moved to Madrid from Sao Paulo in 2013 practically struggled to establish a regular position, thereby spending the 2014–15 campaign on loan at Porto.

Casemiro's choice to leave a thriving career in Madrid, and to join an uncharted, unpredictable world of Manchester United seems illogical to many people but I can relate.

But after securing his spot in the starting lineup during the 2015–16 season, he did not look back, and no midfielder has since won more tackles in LaLiga than him (415).

Although Casemiro’s signing at Old Trafford would significantly improve Manchester United’s midfield options, it is clear that not all of the team’s issues will be solved.
