Amidst an imminent clash against Katsina United, Bendel Insurance coach Monday Odigie has highlighted the team’s journey, dismissing any notion of star-studded status.
Emphasising a prolonged struggle from the lack of energy and enthusiasm in the team, the coach revealed the team’s quest for stabilisation before ambitious pursuits, Footballrover reports
“We always look out for a positive outcome in every match we play. Bendel Insurance is not a team of stars; it’s a team that has been in the doldrums.
Speaking candidly about the team’s evolution, the coach claimed that a formidable team is formed over two years under a coach’s guidance.
“What we are doing right now is trying to fight. God’s willing, I believe this team has done well for anybody who wants to be fair, but we cannot relent on our oasis; we have to keep working hard to see Bendel Insurance be a stronger team than it was when it got into the NPFL.”
Expressing aspirations for the NPFL, the coach set the bar higher. He expressed a desire to surpass last year’s position, aiming for more improvement.

He highlighted the team’s gradual progress towards that goal and stressed the crucial need for support for the Benin Gunners’ advancement.
However, the coach acknowledged the presence of potential distractions within the team and openly expressed concern.
He urged genuine supporters to remain steadfastly behind the team amidst these perceived challenges.
“I can see a lot of distractions coming into the team. I’m saying this openly so people who actually love the team should stick with the team,” Coach Monday said.
Currently positioned 5th in the NPFL standings with 20 points, Bendel Insurance seeks to capitalise on their recent narrow victory against the Sunshine Stars of Akure.
With their sights set on progression, the team is gearing up for an intense showdown against Katsina United this coming Sunday.
As the clash against Katsina United looms, Bendel Insurance’s fervour remains undeterred.
