Sevilla ended Barcelona’s 15-game unbeaten away run in La Liga on Sunday night with a thrilling 4-1 victory at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, thanks to an inspired performance from Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke.

Akor Adams celebrates Sevilla’s goal vs Barcelona

The Nigerian duo came off the bench to deliver decisive contributions in a landmark win that gave Sevilla their first home league victory of the season and their first La Liga win over Barcelona since 2015, Footballrover reports.

Akor Adams Strikes Late to Seal Historic Victory

Adams entered the fray 16 minutes into second half, replacing Isaac Romero, and immediately brought fresh energy to Sevilla’s attack.

The 25-year-old forward had already been in form, scoring in Sevilla’s previous 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano.

His hunger for goals was clear again as he thought he had sealed the match in the 87th minute, only to see his strike ruled out for offside.

Undeterred, Adams stayed alert and in stoppage time capitalised on a swift Sevilla counterattack to calmly slot home the fourth goal — a dramatic finish that capped a famous night for the Andalusian side.

Adams’ goal marked his second in consecutive matches and took his tally to three goal contributions in six La Liga appearances.

Chidera Ejuke’s Creative Spark Turns the Tide

Ejuke’s impact was equally vital. Introduced in the 93rd minute for Alexis Sánchez, the 27-year-old winger wasted no time in making his presence felt.

Just three minutes after his introduction, Ejuke linked up with Adams in a rapid counterattack that broke Barcelona’s resistance.

His precise assist not only set up Akor’s decisive strike but also marked his first assist of the season — and in the biggest fixture of Sevilla’s campaign so far.

Ejuke’s lively runs down the flank and sharp decision-making stretched Barcelona’s backline, particularly troubling Jules Koundé.

Sevilla’s landmark win not only handed Barcelona their first league defeat in 10 trips to Seville (W6, D3) but also reignited the Andalusians’ season.

With Akor finding his scoring touch and Chidera stepping up creatively, Sevilla now have two in-form Nigerian stars capable of shaping their campaign.
