Ademola Lookman rediscovered his scoring touch in style, netting his first goal of the season to help Atalanta secure a 1–1 draw against AC Milan in a tense Serie A clash on Sunday.
The Nigerian forward’s strike brought relief and inspiration for La Dea, who extended their unbeaten run to nine games this campaign.
Ademola Lookman’s timely spark lifts Atalanta
After a frustrating six-game wait for a goal, Ademola Lookman finally broke the deadlock with a trademark finish that reminded fans of his brilliance.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year found space in the box to rifle a powerful left-footed effort past Mike Maignan, capping off a well-constructed Atalanta move engineered by Mario Pašalić.
The 28-year-old’s goal — his first since May 12 in a 2–1 win over Roma — came at a crucial moment, cancelling out Samuele Ricci’s deflected opener for Milan.
Though Lookman lost several duels during the match, his persistence and sharp positioning proved vital in rescuing a point for Ivan Jurić’s men.
Atalanta’s unbeaten run continues amid Milan pressure
Milan, still licking their wounds after losing top spot in Serie A, struck early when Ricci’s shot deflected off Éderson into the net.
Atalanta responded with urgency, pressing forward through Isak Hien, Davide Zappacosta, and Ahanor before Lookman’s equaliser steadied the game.
The second half saw both sides search for a winner, with Christopher Nkunku and Ruben Loftus-Cheek adding spark for Milan, while Zappacosta’s late strike was denied by Maignan’s reflex save.
Despite the stalemate, Atalanta maintained their unbeaten record (W2, D7), leaving Allegri’s Milan unbeaten in nine across all competitions.
For Ademola Lookman, the goal could mark the start of another hot streak — the kind of form Atalanta will need as they aim to break into the Serie A top four.
