Rivers Angels forward Abasiofon Uwah has been left out of the NWFL Premiership Player of the Month nominees for February, despite scoring two goals and providing an assist during the month.

The January Player of the Month began February with an assist, setting up Taiwo Ajibade for Rivers Angels’ second goal in their 2–1 away win over Ekiti Queens after the Pride of Rivers had taken a 2–0 lead, Footballrover reports.

A week later, she found the back of the net twice to hand Rivers Angels a 2–1 victory in their South-South derby against Edo Queens.

The pacey and reliable forward converted a penalty after Marylyn Essien handled the ball inside the box 13 minutes into the game.

Uwah stepped up confidently and slotted home to give the Jewels of Rivers the lead.

Just before halftime, a swift counterattack saw her round the goalkeeper before calmly finishing to double her tally and seal a 2–1 win for Tosan Blankson’s side in the derby clash.

Her brace in that match took her season tally to seven goals.

NWFL February Player of the Month nominees revealed

Instead, Remo Stars Ladies dominated the nominees list with two players — Daniella Fagbenro and Nkiruka Obidinma — while Winner David of Abia Angels, Ifeoma Damian of Adamawa Queens, and Bright Etim of Sunshine Queens completed the shortlist.

Five outstanding players delivered remarkable performances in the NWFL Premiership during February, making decisive contributions for their respective teams.

Daniella Fagbenro (Remo Stars Ladies)

Fagbenro had a prolific spell in front of goal, scoring three times in just two matches to lead Remo Stars Ladies’ attacking charge during the month.

Winner David (Abia Angels)

Winner produced a clinical performance, scoring a hat-trick against Ahudiyannem Queens and ending February with three goals to her name.

Ifeoma Damian (Adamawa Queens)

Damian made a strong impact for Adamawa Queens, scoring two crucial goals and providing important attacking moments for her side.

Nkiruka Obidinma (Remo Stars Ladies)

The goalkeeper delivered commanding displays between the posts, keeping two clean sheets and making several vital saves to help her team secure valuable points.

Bright Etim (Sunshine Queens)

Etim also impressed in goal, recording two clean sheets and producing a number of key saves, including a standout performance that helped Sunshine Queens end Nasarawa Amazons’ unbeaten run.

Voting will open on Friday at 8 p.m.
