Fresh off her return from international duty, where she helped the Super Falcons of Nigeria seal a 3–1 aggregate win over Benin Republic to qualify for the 2026 WAFCON group stage, the 28-year-old wasted no time making her mark again at club level, Footballrover reports.

Barely eight minutes into the match, Esther Okoronkwo combined beautifully with Nikayla Small inside the box.

The ball briefly looked lost as she tried to bring it under control, but she adjusted well to ensure the assist was hers.

Okoronkwo’s impact once again set the tone for Toronto, who dominated much of the first half before Kaylee Hunter sealed the victory with a composed finish 19 minutes from time.

This latest assist adds to Okoronkwo’s impressive tally of 15 assists across all competitions this season—eight for AFC Toronto and seven for Nigeria.

It also makes sure she remains as one of Africa’s most creative and consistent forwards in 2025.

Her exceptional run of form hasn’t gone unnoticed. Esther Okoronkwo has been shortlisted for the CAF Women’s Player of the Year Award, alongside fellow Super Falcons star Rasheedat Ajibade.

CAF is yet to announce the official ceremony date, but her performances continue to make a compelling case for continental recognition.

Now, with Toronto carrying a two-goal advantage into the reverse fixture, Okoronkwo and her teammates will look to finish the job and keep their playoff dreams alive.
