Super Falcons forward Chiwendu Ihezuo delivered a player-of-the-match performance, bagging a brace to inspire Pachuca women to a comeback win over Juárez women during their Mexico Liga MX game on Friday evening.

The Nigerian international scored the equaliser and the winning goal as Pachuca came from behind to cruise past Juárez 3-2 at the Estadio Olimpico Benito Juárez, Footballrover reports.

Chiwendu Ihezuo Powers Pachuca Women’s Comeback

That strike marked the fifth goal in five appearances for the 28-year-old WAFCON 2024 winner, her fifth of the campaign as well.

What a game in Liga MX Femenil, and it was Ihezuo who stole the headlines with a quickfire double to turn the tie around before halftime.

The home side started strong, with Dayana Martins breaking the deadlock barely 10 minutes into the encounter.

But Pachuca hit right back through American-born Nigerian forward Ayooluwa Oke just five minutes later.

The hosts regained their lead in the 27th minute as veteran Liliana Mercado made it 2-1, raising hopes of a statement win.

Then came the Ihezuo show. The Nigerian forward levelled the score in the 31st minute before coolly slotting home the go-ahead goal on the stroke of halftime.

Juárez Starts Bright, but Ihezuo Flips the Script

Her brace flipped the game completely, silencing the home crowd and putting the visitors in control at the break.

Straight after the restart, another Nigerian star joined the action—Osinachi Ohale came in to replace Andrea Pereira, adding more steel to Pachuca’s defence as they worked to protect their lead.

From there, the visitors managed the game with composure, grinding out all three points in a contest that had everything: early goals, swift responses, and plenty of Nigerian flair.

Final Score: Juárez 2-3 Pachuca

Goals: Martins (10’), Oke (15’), Mercado (27’), Ihezuo (31’, 45’)

That result lifts Ihezuo and her teammates to second place on the table with 23 points, just one behind table topper Club America women.
