Despite finding the back of the net, the Nigerian international could not stop her team’s hopes of reaching the group stages from fading away, Footballrover reports.

Anam Imo Scores Again but Rosengård Fall Short

The 24-year-old forward scored the second goal for FC Rosengård, but it came too late. Their fightback fell short, and they succumbed to a narrow 3–2 defeat at Den Dreef Stadion.

However, that goal took Anam Imo’s tally in the qualifying series to three, having scored in two consecutive games. In total, she has now recorded four goals this season already.

What promised to be another Champions League adventure for FC Rosengård ended in heartbreak, as Oud-Heverlee Leuven stunned the Swedish giants with a 3–2 victory in the second-round final of UWCL qualifying.

Leuven’s Early Storm Leaves Rosengård With Too Much to Do

The Belgian side came out flying and silenced the home crowd early. Aurélie Reynders opened the scoring in the 10th minute, before Jada Conijnenberg struck twice in the 18th and 35th minutes, putting Leuven three goals clear before halftime.

Rosengård, who had looked dominant in their 5–0 demolition of ZFK Ljuboten just days earlier, suddenly found themselves with a mountain to climb.

But the Malmö club showed resilience after the break. Emilia Larsson pulled one back on the hour, and when Imo made it 2–3 in the 71st minute, belief surged through the stands.

The final push, however, fell agonisingly short. Leuven held firm to book their ticket to the group stage, while Rosengård were left to regret a sluggish first half that cost them dearly.

What’s Next for Imo and Rosengård?

For Rosengård, attention now turns back to the Damallsvenskan, where they will meet Vittsjö GIK on September 5.
