On the stroke of half-time, Gundogan hit the crossbar before Elyounoussi’s pass rebounded off Laporte and into his own net.

Following the break, Jesus was awarded a penalty, which De Bruyne dutifully converted beneath Forster.

To cap it up, Foden and Mahrez came off the bench; Foden barreled a shot past the keeper, and Mahrez curled in the fourth only minutes later.

City, along with Chelsea and Crystal Palace, is in the hat for the semi-final draw, and they’ll face winners of Nottenham Forest vs Liverpool at Wembley in just over a month.

They’ll travel to Burnley in the Premier League after the international break.

Southampton has now lost four games in a row, and their focus now shifts back to the league, where they will face Leeds United in two weeks.
