Nigeria’s U-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets, continued their impressive preparations for the upcoming WAFU B tournament in Ghana with a resounding 7-0 victory over Enugu-based football academy, Udi Stars, in a friendly match on Saturday evening in Abuja.
The Manu Garba-tutored boys dominated the encounter, taking a commanding 5-0 lead by halftime and adding two more goals in the second period to seal a convincing win, Footballrover reports.
This extends their unbeaten run to six games, with five victories and two draws.
The Golden Eaglets have been in fine form, maintaining clean sheets in their last three outings and scoring a total of 15 goals.
Their preparations, which began after coach Manu Garba’s return a couple of weeks ago, are geared towards defending their title at the WAFU B U-17 tournament in Ghana next month.
Nigeria has been drawn into Group B alongside Togo, Burkina Faso, and Niger Republic, while hosts Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, and Benin Republic make up Group A.
The team’s friendly results have been impressive, with wins over Ramsaky FC, P. Sports FC, and Udi Stars, as well as draws against Ikon Allah Academy and Miracle Academy.
Following this dominant victory, the Golden Eaglets are well-positioned to mount a robust defence of their title in Ghana.
