The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has reinstated former U17 World Cup-winning Manu Garba as the head coach of the Nigeria U17 boys, the Golden Eaglets.

Garba, who previously led the Golden Eaglets to victory in the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2013, has managed to secure the helm once again to lead the Nigerian youth team, Footballrover reports

Recall that during his tenure in 2013, Garba’s squad produced top talents like Kelechi Iheanacho, Taiwo Awoniyi, Isaac Success, Musa Mohammed, Chidiebere Nwakali, and goalkeeper Dele Alampasu.

Under Garba’s guidance, the Golden Eaglets were a strong side to battle, defeating Mexico 6-1, drawing 3-3 with Sweden, and overpowering Iraq 5-0 in the FIFA U17 World Cup.

They continued their dominant streak by defeating Iran 4-1 in the Round of 16, Uruguay 2-0 in the quarterfinals, and Sweden 3-0 in the semi-finals.

In the final, they clinched victory once more against Mexico, securing the coveted trophy.

Now, Garba steps back into his role, tasked with leading the team’s preparations for the upcoming WAFU B U17 Championship in Ghana next month.

Could the appointment of Garba as Golden Eaglets coach by the NFF be a strategic one, aimed at continuing his long success on the international stage?
