Seems Rivers Angels’ rent was due after arriving in Lagos early enough to prepare for this NWFL clash—and the state Landladies FC Robo made sure it was paid in full.
In a lopsided NWFL clash at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Robo served Rivers Angels a cold dose of Lagos heat, bringing their ten-match unbeaten streak to a screeching halt, Footballrover reports.
But it wasn’t just a defeat—it was an eviction notice, sealed with a 3-0 thrashing that left the visitors reeling.
Rivers Angels shocked as FC Robo start party early
Barely two minutes after kickoff, the Lagos Landladies kicked open the front door. A defensive mishap by the PH City ladies’ goalkeeper Anderline Mgbechi gifted Adegbuyi Kemi the opener.
The hosts kept the pressure on, but the first half ended with just that lone goal separating the sides.
By the 70th minute, the Jewels of Rivers were still hunting for an equaliser, only to be denied by a brilliant save from FC Robo’s keeper Olusesi Moridiya, who stopped Titilayo Aweda’s attempt.
That save turned the tide—two minutes later, Yahaya Mariam doubled the lead, sending the Lagos crowd into excitement.
Final blow seals FC Robo’s dominance in Lagos
With just four minutes to go, Robo put the final nail in the coffin. Star forward Opeyemi Ajakaye slotted in the third, completing a clinical display that left the Garden City Angels stunned and scoreless.
The visitors left Lagos without points or pride as their unbeaten run ended under the lights of the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
For the Lagos landladies, rent was collected, and order was restored.
“Sadly, our unbeaten run comes to an end in Lagos. Despite the setback, the team will regroup and focus on the next challenge,” the Port Harcourt outfit painfully wrote on their social media page.
