Rivers Angels coach questions Refâs calls, slams physicality
Speaking to the clubâs media, Rivers Angels coach Blankson expressed disappointment with the officiating and physical approach of FC Robo.
“They didnât play better; they were only physical. The referee was allowing too much rough and hard contact on my girls, and things like that destabilise them,â he said.
Despite the 3-0 scoreline, coach Blankson, who couldn’t explain what went wrong with his side, insisted his team put in a strong shift.
“Sometimes that’s football for you: you play well, you lose. Today is one of our bad days, though the girls gave their all. We can’t say what went wrong, but something went wrong,” the gaffer said.
Defeat to FC Robo sparks call for tactical reset
The defeat to FC Robo may have ended Rivers Angels’ ten-game unbeaten run, but the coach remains optimistic.
âWe are already in the Super Six; weâll go back and plan for our next game. Weâll pick from there,â said the PH Angels coach.
He hinted at regrouping and re-strategising, acknowledging that his team must be ready for all styles of play.
âAt the end of the day, they have to get ready for any type of football they see sometimes.â
Though the defeat to FC Robo defeat stung, Rivers Angels will now focus on bouncing back, armed with lessons from a rough night in Lagos.
“We’ll go back, put our heads together, then know what to do next,” the coach concluded.
