Just before the halftime, Vrsaljko hit the crossbar with a header.

Man United were never at their best, but after a quick break, they grabbed one back via Elanga.

Griezmann also hit the crossbar with a late curler, and Oblak stopped Lingard a game-winning goal with the final ball.

It’s all level going into the second leg, which takes place at Old Trafford in just over three weeks.

Prior to that, both teams will be focused on domestic matters, with Atletico Madrid facing Celta Vigo in LaLiga and Man United hosting Watford in the Premier League.
