Alex Iwobi delivered a masterclass at Craven Cottage, scoring and setting up a goal to fire Fulham to a 3-1 comeback victory over Brentford in the Premier League.
The 29-year-old midfielder’s first goal of the season, combined with a slick assist, helped the Cottagers secure consecutive league wins for the first time since February, ending a frustrating streak in west London derbies, Footballrover reports.
Alex Iwobi Leads Fulham’s Revival
The Cottagers started brightly under Marco Silva, patiently probing their opponent’s defence through early chances for Harry Wilson and Saša Lukić.
But it was the Bees who struck first in a surprising opener. Josh King’s cross was intercepted by Mikkel Damsgaard, who drilled a clinical finish past Bernd Leno.
Fulham came close to conceding again when Kevin Schade capitalised on a sloppy backpass, though he could not find the net.
Unfazed, the Cottagers pressed forward. Caoimhín Kelleher’s spill almost gifted Rodrigo Muniz a chance, but Fulham’s determination paid off.
Iwobi equalised with a smart first-time finish after a scramble in the box, and quickly followed it up by setting up Wilson, who curled home a precise left-footed strike.
Silva Men Extend Lead and Control the Game
Riding the momentum, Marco Silva side made it 3-1 just five minutes after the restart. Ryan Sessegnon’s whipped cross was deflected into his own net by Ethan Pinnock.
The Bees nearly pulled one back when Dango Ouattara’s left-footed effort flew narrowly over the bar, but Fulham maintained control, seeing out the win comfortably.
A late goal from Rodrigo Muniz was overturned by VAR for a foul on Nathan Collins, confirming the Cottagers’ dominance.
This victory moves Silva and his boys up to seventh in the Premier League table and marks only their third win in eight recent London derbies.
The Bees, meanwhile, slipped to 17th following consecutive losses at Craven Cottage—their first back-to-back home defeats since 1954.
With Iwobi’s brilliance on display and strong support from his compatriot Calvin Bassey, hos team now look capable of turning their early-season promise into a sustained push for top-half stability.
