Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare has described his switch to Wolves as the fulfilment of a lifelong ambition.
The Nigerian striker revealed that playing in the Premier League was always his top priority, and he believes his Wolves move is the perfect fit for his career, Footballrover reports.
Tolu Arokodare’s big dream sealed with Wanderers move
Despite growing up in a family of Manchester United fans, Arokodare chose The Old Gold because the opportunity “came concrete” — and he didn’t hesitate.
Speaking with Sports Witness, Arokodare said:
— “There might have been other rumours [AC Milan and Napoli], but in my head, I only wanted one thing.
— “The Wolverhampton shirt already fits me like a glove. [Wolves are known for] using their strikers well. I’ll benefit from that.”
The 24-year-old joined Wolves on a four-year deal from Belgian side KRC Genk after impressing last season in the Jupiler Pro League.
While other clubs circled, his heart was set on the English top flight, and Wolves gave him the platform to achieve that dream.
Manchester United roots, but Wolves is home now
Interestingly, Arokodare grew up supporting Manchester United because of his family background.
He revealed that he and his three older brothers were lifelong United fans. Yet, when the chance to sign for Wolves came, he couldn’t resist.
— “When Wolverhampton became concrete, I didn’t hesitate for a second. No one had to convince me. Everyone also knew I absolutely wanted to go to the Premier League.”
The Nigerian international made his EPL debut on Saturday in Wolves’ 1-0 defeat away to Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
Starting the game, he touched the ball 21 times before being substituted just after the hour mark.
While he failed to hit the ground running on his debut, the Nigerian international will obviously be eager to adapt quickly under manager Vítor Pereira and prove his worth to Wolves fans.
