Super Falcons star Esther Okoronkwo delivered magic and a brace to inspire AFC Toronto to a commanding victory over Vancouver Rise in their Northern Super League clash on Saturday.

Esther Okoronkwo, alongside her teammate Kaylee Hunter, each found the back of the net twice as Toronto piled up six goals in the second half in an exciting 7-0 thumping of Vancouver at the York Lions Stadium, Footballrover reports.

The Nigerian international not only scored the opening goal of the encounter but also provided the second before making way for Jade Kovacevic with 18 minutes left to play.

Okoronkwo, who has been in fine form all season, opened the scoring with a brilliant free kick in the 6th minute before adding her second in the 65th.

The visitors were stunned at the stroke of half-time when Jessica De Filippo received a straight red card, reducing the team to ten players and completely changing the course of the game.

Other goals came through Kaylee Hunter, who struck twice to take her tally to 12 for the season, with her first assisted by Okoronkwo. Kaela Hansen, Sarah Stratigakis, and Jade Kovacevic wrapped up the scoring in the emphatic win.

Okoronkwo’s brace helped AFC Toronto seal their place in the Northern Super League playoffs.

The superb result also opened up a nine-point lead over Vancouver and Montreal for the top spot in the six-team league standings.

The 28-year-old forward now has 17 goal involvements in her last 15 matches, making her a strong candidate for the 2025 CAF Women’s Player of the Year award.

Meanwhile, the victory also ended Vancouver’s eight-game unbeaten run, confirming Toronto as the first team to book their place in the playoffs.
