Hull City have confirmed the signing of Nigerian winger David Akintola on a two-year deal, adding more firepower to their attack ahead of the new Championship campaign.

The move marks a special milestone for Akintola, who described the switch as a “dream come true” after years of playing across Europe, Footballrover reports.
“It Was a Very Easy Decision” – Akintola on Joining Hull City
The 29-year-old winger could not hide his excitement after sealing his move to Hull City.
“I’m very happy to be here – I cannot describe the feeling. A couple of weeks ago, the club showed interest. It was a very easy decision,” David Akintola said.
“Because I was in Nigeria, I needed a visa to come, so that’s why it took a little while, but I’m very happy to finally be here.

“Growing up in Nigeria, everybody watches the Premier League. Hull have played in the Premier League before, so it’s a team I’ve known about for a very long time.
“Having the opportunity to play here now is a big privilege and I’m grateful.
“The people here are amazing – everybody has welcomed me very well. I’m looking forward to working with the head coach and bringing a good story to this great team.
“It’s a dream come true. Everybody in Nigeria wants to play in England. It’s what we watch growing up.
“I’m ready to give everything and help the team to achieve big things.”
A Strong Nigerian Legacy at Hull City
By joining the Tigers, David Akintola becomes the eighth Nigerian player to represent Hull City.
He follows in the footsteps of legends and compatriots such as Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha, who played a key role in Hull’s Premier League promotion in 2007.
Others include Seyi Olofinjana, Hope Akpan, Dele Adebola, Sone Aluko, Ola Aina, and Semi Ajayi, who also signed this summer.

From Europe to England: Akintola’s Football Journey
With over 270 career appearances, David Akintola brings valuable experience to Hull. His career began at Midtjylland in Denmark before he went on loan spells across Europe.
In Norway, he impressed at Jerv, Haugesund, and Rosenborg, finishing as a top scorer and featuring in UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
A short stint in Cyprus with Omonia Nicosia was followed by a standout season at Hatayspor, where he scored seven goals and provided seven assists in the 2020/21 campaign.
Later, he moved to Adana Demirspor in Turkey, scoring 13 goals in 77 matches and helping the club qualify for Europe. Most recently, he played for Çaykur Rizespor, contributing four goals and nine assists in 49 appearances.
What Hull City Fans Can Expect
Akintola’s arrival adds pace, creativity, and experience to Hull City’s squad. His ability to beat defenders and deliver decisive passes will be key as the Tigers look to make a strong push in the Championship.
