Afcon 2021: Mo Salah inspired Egypt beat Morocco, secure semi-final spot

The Pharaohs of Egypt have progressed to the final four of Afcon 2021 after coming from behind to beat their North African counterpart – Morocco 2-1 at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium.

The “North African Derby” ended in favour of Egypt as they advanced to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations, Afcon 2021 in Cameroon on Sunday thanks to an extra-time goal from Mahmoud ‘Trezeguet’ Hassan.Afcon 2021: Mo Salah inspired Egypt beat Morocco, secure semi-final spot

Sofiane Boufal broke the deadlock for the Atlas Lions in the sixth minute, but Mohamed Salah equalised for the Pharaohs in the 53rd minute at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium.

Before super sub – Trezeguet, who came in to replace injured Ahmed Hegazy, scored the winning goal in 100th minute after Salah had set him up.

He scored the game-winning goal for Carlos Queiroz’s side after guiding the ball into the net following a Salah cross, giving the Pharaohs prestige in the rivalry as well as a place in the semi-finals, where they will meet hosts Cameroon.
