Former champions of the Nigeria Premier League, Rivers United, have taken a bold stance by assigning an impressive ₦76M price tag to their prized first-choice goalkeeper, Victor Sochima.

In a bid to reclaim the NPFL title from Enyimba and fortify their position as continental contenders in the upcoming season, the Pride of Rivers remains rigid in its desire to retain Victor Sochima’s great services.

Despite the impending expiration of his contract, the Super Eagles shot-stopper has yet to indicate any interest in pursuing other opportunities beyond his current club.

Footballerover understands that Tanzanian outfit Azam FC has exhibited keen interest in acquiring the services of the goalkeeper.

However, their initial offer of N38,463,000 was swiftly rebuffed by Rivers United.

Determined to secure their invaluable asset, Rivers United declined the $50,000 proposal from the Tanzanian side.

Instead, they have firmly set the asking price at $100,000, making it evident that they are resolute in retaining Sochima’s services.

The stakes are high for both sides, as Sochima stands at a crossroads. Failure to accept the current terms could lead to the possibility of the goalkeeper departing on a free transfer after the upcoming season—an outcome that Rivers United is keen to avoid.

The 24-year-old, played an instrumental role in Rivers United’s successful NPFL campaign in 2022.

He also bore witness to the team’s unfortunate loss in the 2023 title race to the Peoples Elephant during the Super Six playoffs held in Lagos State.

With expectations soaring, Sochima is now poised to take the lead in guiding the former NPFL champions toward the upcoming CAF Confederations Cup—a challenge that both the goalkeeper and Rivers United are gearing up to conquer.
