Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu registered his first assist of the season and capped it with a late goal as Trabzonspor cruised to a commanding 4-0 win over Kayserispor in Friday night’s Turkish Super Lig clash at Papara Park.
The 31-year-old forward, now on six goals in eight league games, set up the opener and then struck from the penalty spot in stoppage time to round off a dominant display for the Black Sea Storm, Footballrover reports.
Paul Onuachu Leads Trabzonspor’s Win with Sparkling Display
Onuachu came close to adding more to his tally, rattling the woodwork despite registering seven shots on goal in a lively performance.
The Nigerian international has now contributed to goals in three straight matches since his move from Southampton to the Turkish top flight.
The hosts drew first blood just 12 minutes in when Onuachu linked up with Okay Yokuşlu, whose long-range drive slipped past the Kayserispor goalkeeper. The strike proved the difference at the break.
The hosts pulled away early in the second half as Felipe Augusto doubled the lead in the 53rd minute, before Oleksandr Zubkov added a third three minutes later to put the result beyond doubt.
Trabzonspor Climb to Second Place after Comfortable Victory
Onuachu then sealed a deserved Man of the Match performance by calmly converting a 95th-minute penalty, ensuring his team’s third straight unbeaten outing — two wins and a draw.
The victory lifts the Black Sea Storm to second place in the Super Lig with 17 points from eight matches (five wins, two draws, and one defeat).
They will now turn their attention to their next fixture, a trip to face Rizespor on Saturday.
