The move brings an end to a remarkable chapter with the Solid Miners and opens a new one in North African football, Footballrover reports.

Anas Yusuf leaves Nasarawa after historic goalscoring era

Yusuf departs Nasarawa United as one of the most influential players in the club’s history.

The Alago-born attacker scored over 40 goals across all competitions during nearly a decade in Lafia, sealing his status as a club legend.

The Super Eagles Team B forward finished the 2024/25 NPFL season as top scorer with 18 goals and was already among the leading marksmen in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier League before interest arrived from JS Saoura.

His exit marks the end of an era for Nasarawa United, where his impact went far beyond goals.

Club chairman Solomon Babanjah admitted the club felt mixed emotions over Yusuf’s departure.

He remarked that the forward had helped the team achieve many successes and explained that while the club was proud of Yusuf’s legendary goalscoring ability and team spirit, they would miss him deeply.

He added that Nasarawa United had done everything possible to keep the player until the end of the season but accepted that Yusuf needed to move his career forward.

Solomon also noted that the club was pleased with Yusuf’s choice of destination and wished him success, stressing that he would always remain part of the Nasarawa family.

Yusuf speaks on legacy, gratitude, and his next challenge

Speaking from Méridja in Béchar Province, Yusuf expressed deep appreciation for his time at the Solid Miners and the role the club played in shaping his career.

“Without the platform given to me by Nasarawa United, I wouldn’t be here today. I am grateful for the support I have received from every member of the Club, particularly my teammates, management officials, coaches and backroom staff, the Nasarawa State Government, and our great supporters and fans all over the world.”

Reflecting on his emotional bond with the club, he added:

“In my next world, I would still play for the Solid Miners, but for now, I needed to explore other challenges.”

The 22-year-old forward stressed his determination to succeed at JS Saoura while carrying Nasarawa with him.

I hold everyone back home with great pride, and I will work hard and smart here to make them proud of the decision I have taken.”

He also voiced confidence in his former club’s future, saying:

Nobody is indispensable in a team. I strongly believe that Nasarawa United will still succeed even in my absence because there are a lot of great players in the Club. But my thoughts and prayers are always with them to succeed, as I will continue to cherish every moment I had in the team.”

Anas Yusuf makes debut appearance for JS Saoura

JS Saoura president Mourad Belakhdar praised Nasarawa for producing a player of Yusuf’s quality and revealed that both clubs could benefit from future collaborations in player exchanges, technical support, and development.

Yusuf has already made his first appearance for JS Saoura, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 1–0 win over ES Sétif at the August 20, 1955 Stadium.

The victory lifted the club to fourth place in the Algerian Premier League standings with 25 points from 17 matches.
