Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem has spoken about the task ahead as Nigeria prepares for a tough Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 semi-final clash against host nation Morocco.

The decisive match will take place later today at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, where Nigeria will face not only a strong opponent but also a loud home crowd, Footballrover reports.

Awaziem believes focus and mental strength will be key as the Super Eagles aim to book a place in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Speaking ahead of the game, Chidozie Awaziem admitted that Morocco’s home support will play a big role in the atmosphere on the night.

As hosts, the Atlas Lions are expected to enjoy massive backing from the stands, making the challenge even greater for Nigeria.

“We all know that Morocco is the host team, so we know they’re going to have massive supporters in the stadium,” he said.

The defender, however, stressed that the Super Eagles are prepared for the pressure.

According to Awaziem, the team’s focus is on staying calm, sticking to their game plan, and shutting out distractions from the crowd.

He noted that the players understand what is at stake and are determined to remain fully focused on their performance rather than the noise around them.

“We just want to turn their fears to the fans and be focused on the pitch, focus on ourselves, and try to get the job done,” Awaziem explained.

Morocco will be heading into the AFCON 2025 semi-final as one of the tournament favourites, having gone through the competition unbeaten so far.

Backed by their fans in Rabat, they will be confident of reaching the final.

Nigeria will also be coming with strong momentum of their own. The Super Eagles have impressed at AFCON 2025 with a balanced display, combining attacking quality with solid defending.

Five wins, 14 goals scored, and just four conceded, which shows their consistency and discipline.

Chidozie Awaziem believes that if Nigeria stay united, manage the pressure, and play with confidence, they can rise to the occasion.
