RB Leipzig have completed the signing of highly rated Nigerian winger Suleman Sani, adding another exciting young talent to their long-term project.

The Bundesliga club secured the 19-year-old from Slovakian top-flight side AS Trenčín as part of their strategy to invest in elite youth with high upside, Footballrover reports.

RB Leipzig Secure Suleman Sani in Long-Term Deal

Sani signed a permanent contract with Leipzig that runs until June 30, 2031. The former Akwa United youngster will wear the number 18 shirt after completing a move reportedly worth €7 million, with the Bundesliga side beating competition from Premier League and La Liga clubs.

Born on September 1, 2006, the right-footed attacker moved to Europe in September 2024 and quickly made his mark at AS Trenčín.

In 59 competitive appearances, Sani scored 16 goals and registered seven assists, showing consistency and maturity well beyond his age.

The Nigerian winger also featured in the UEFA Youth League with AS Trenčín and gained wider attention after impressive displays at the U20 World Cup with Nigeria.

A regular member of the Flying Eagles, Suleman Sani stood out as a creative force at the 2025 U20 World Cup, leading attacks and supplying key assists.

His influence is backed by numbers and recognition. Seven Man of the Match awards in just 19 games highlight his strong mentality and willingness to take responsibility.

Sani has often cited Chelsea legend Eden Hazard as his football idol, a detail that adds extra intrigue to his attacking style.

Marcel Schäfer, RB Leipzig’s Managing Director of Sport, stated that the club had successfully signed Suleman Sani, whom he described as a highly talented young winger.

According to Schäfer:

• Attributes and Potential: Sani possesses an exciting profile and all the necessary attributes to further his development at the club.

• Style of Play: He primarily operates on the left wing, utilising his significant pace, physicality, and ability to make effective runs behind the defence. Schäfer also noted Sani’s strong work rate off the ball and his professional attitude.

• Strategic Fit: The signing was made in anticipation of the summer window, as the opportunity to secure a permanent transfer had arisen.

• Future Outlook: Schäfer concluded that Sani’s arrival would provide the squad with greater tactical versatility and increased depth on the wings for the future.

“We will give Suleman all the time he needs to settle in the Bundesliga and are very much looking forward to our journey together,” Schäfer said.

Sani, speaking after completing the move, said that joining Leipzig is a major step in his career.

“I am particularly impressed by the way the club develops young players, gives them confidence, and provides them with targeted support,” Suleman Sani said.

“I am looking forward to learning every day in this highly professional environment, developing further, and giving everything for the team. The style of football played here suits me very well. I can hardly wait to make my first appearance in the Leipzig jersey,” the winger added.
