At the Central Stadium of Jonava, the young defender scored an incredible header to help FK Panevezys defeat bottom-dwelling Lietava 5-0.

The visitors got off to a strong start in the game and quickly took the lead thanks to Wanderson Maranho, who put his team in front just eight minutes in.

Ariagner Smith extended the lead for the visiting side three minutes later. The 23-year-old Nigerian then increased the score to 3-0 with an incredible, strong header.

After Akpudje Joshua scored his first goal of the campaign, the home team was subsequently reduced to ten men when Lukas Epkauskas was given a straight red card.

Before the first half, the visitors led by three goals, and four minutes into the second half, Aironas Trakselis made it 4-0.

To think the scoring would stop there, Ariagner Smith went on to grab a brace 18 minutes later to add to Lietava’s misery and clinch the victory and all three points.

With the win, FK Panevezys climbs up to second place in the standings with 33 points after 16 games, only two points behind league leaders – Zalgiris, while Lietava stays at the bottom of the standings with just one point.

What an important victory and a goal last night. Glad we got this job done before the next huge game on Saturday.” – Akpudje Joshua after the game.

Next up for his team is a match against Siauliai on Saturday at the Aukstaitija Stadium, and Akpudje Joshua will be eager to score more goals for the Valdas Urbonas side.
