Zambia Olympic women’s football team coach, Bruce Mwape, has been banned from private contact with any of his player at the Paris 2024 Olympics over an ongoing investigation into allegations of inappropriate behaviour against him.
A report in The Guardian yesterday stated that the 64-year-old was initially denied a visa to enter France, but the decision was later overturned with strict conditions, Footballrover reports.
Footballrover understands that he is not also allowed to have private contact with any players and that any one-on-one meetings must take place in a public setting.
The report noted that FIFA has been investigating claims that Mwape once rubbed his hands over the chest of a player after a training session at the previous year’s World Cup in New Zealand.
The Guardian had also reported in May that the Zambian women’s Olympic football coach had been accused of intentionally touching the bosom of a FIFA contractor at the same tournament.
It was revealed that prior to the World Cup, coach Mwape, who had previously denied the accusations, was the subject of an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct by several players in the squad.
Footballrover gathered that this incident has since been referred to FIFA by the Zambian Football Association (FAZ).
