Zambia captain Barbra Banda has fired a bold message ahead of Friday’s WAFCON 2024 quarterfinal clash against the Super Falcons, saying the Copper Queens are mentally sharp, physically fit, and ready to battle for a semifinal spot.

With high morale and strong recovery from the group stage, Banda believes the team has what it takes to face one of Africa’s top sides, Footballrover reports.
“We Want to Hunt It” – Zambia Captain Not Afraid of Super Falcons
During Thursday’s pre-match press conference in Casablanca, Barbra Banda shared how the Copper Queens bounced back well after the group phase.
“We had a very good recovery from the group stage… We are back with good morale and looking forward to tomorrow’s game,” she said.

Speaking with confidence, she added:
“We are not scared, but we respect them because we know the game is 90-plus, so we are going to speak on the pitch… We want to hunt it. Like the coaches say, we are so hungry for the game. You will be there to witness. The game is so open for everybody, and it’s a good game to watch.”
Her words show not just belief in her squad but hunger to make a statement against the Falcons, who are record WAFCON champions.
Despite their achievements, Banda made it clear Zambia will not be intimidated.
Banda Urges Unity and Seriousness Ahead of WAFCON 2024 Clash
The Zambia captain stressed the importance of unity and focus in a tournament like 2024 WAFCON.
“I am here with the team, encouraging my team to do what we love doing mostly and what we love doing best, which is to unite ourselves and be honest with our principles and values,” she said.

Banda also revealed that she feels no pressure from being named CAF Women’s African Footballer of the Year but instead uses it as motivation.
“It’s just the motivation that I have to work extra hard, and more titles will come on the pitch,” she said.
Banda Grateful to Represent Zambia at the Tournament
The Orlando Pride forward spoke emotionally about what it means to represent Zambia at WAFCON.
She expressed that participating in the competition held great personal significance for her, and wearing the national team badge was something she deeply valued.
She also considered her inclusion in the squad a major opportunity—one she felt compelled to make the most of by proving she deserved her place.
The much-anticipated clash between Zambia and the Super Falcons kicks off at 5PM on Friday at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium. A win will send either side to the WAFCON 2024 semifinals.
