Morocco defeated Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal 1-0 in Saturday’s quarterfinal match at the Al Thumama Stadium to advance to the 2022 FIFA World Cup semifinals.

En-Nesyri lept high in the midst of three Portuguese defenders to score the historic lone goal for Atlas Lions of Morocco in 41st minute of the first half of the match played at Al Thumama Stadium, Al Thumama, Qatar.

It will be the first time any African Nation will play in semi-final of World Cup. It was an even first half with each team playing two corner kicks in the first half.

Morocco kept five defenders permanently in their goal area to stop all the onslaughts of the Portuguese who kept knocking balls around their midfield and making sporadic long shots to Joao Felix, Bruno Fernandez, and Ruben Neves.

Moroccan Playmaker – Sofiane Boufal, took the Atlas Lions first shot on target in 35th minute of the first half. Before Hakim Ziyech’ free kick in 49th minute of the second half was held by Portuguese goalkeeper, Diogo Costa.Youssef En-Nesyri's historic leap sees Morocco qualify for semi-final of 2022 FIFA World Cup
