New vice-captain Wilfred Ndidi marked a memorable night in the Turkish Super Lig as he scored his first league goal to fire Beşiktaş to a 2–0 victory over Konyaspor on Wednesday.

The Nigerian midfielder opened the scoring in the 21st minute, rising to meet a precise corner from Orkun Kökçü and guiding his header beyond the goalkeeper.

The goal — his first in nine appearances since arriving from Leicester City — gave Beşiktaş control of the contest and silenced the home crowd at the Medas Konya Stadyumu.

Ndidi’s composed finish separated both sides at the break, reflecting Beşiktaş’s sharper play in the opening half.

His influence in midfield helped steady the team’s tempo as they pushed to reclaim form in the Turkish Super Lig campaign.

Abraham impact and season outlook

In the 73rd minute, former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham sealed the victory with a calm strike from close range, securing all three points for the visitors.

That moment ended Konyaspor’s late pressure and ensured Beşiktaş returned to winning ways after a 1–1 draw with Galatasaray and a 2–1 loss to Gençlerbirliği.

Ndidi, who spent nine seasons at Leicester City and scored 18 goals during his time in England, now aims to build on his bright start in Istanbul.

With confidence high, the Super Eagles will look to inspire Beşiktaş again when they face Kasimpasa on Sunday.

The result lifts the mood in the camp and strengthens Beşiktaş’s push to climb the table, with Ndidi quickly becoming a central figure in their Turkish Super Lig campaign.

Speaking after the game, Ndidi told the club website that;

“The match went as planned. We knew it would be tough. We wanted to win, and we did. That’s the important thing. We knew the opponent’s plan.

We worked hard and got results. We’d worked on dead-ball arrangements in training. Everything we worked on in training paid off. This gave us momentum for the match.”
