Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has voiced his strong support for new manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy, praising the Dutchman’s leadership and philosophy despite the team’s difficult season.
With Leicester City struggling at the foot of the Premier League, the 28-year-old Ndidi believes Van Nistelrooy is the right man to lead them to better days, Footballrover reports.
Van Nistelrooy’s impact at Leicester City
Van Nistelrooy took over as Leicester City’s manager in late November, following the departure of Steve Cooper.
The former Manchester United striker, who signed a contract until 2027, was expected to bring stability to the team.
Though his tenure began with a promising 3-1 victory over West Ham United, Leicester has since experienced a tough stretch, including three straight defeats, most recently a 3-1 loss to Liverpool on Boxing Day.
Despite this, Ndidi remains optimistic about the team’s progress under Van Nistelrooy’s guidance.
Ndidi confident in Van Nistelrooy’s long-term vision
Wilfred Ndidi described the Leicester boss as an “amazing” manager with a strong personality, emphasising his efforts to unite the squad.
Ndidi is confident that with time, the team will fully embrace the new boss playing philosophy and begin to secure vital wins.
Despite the current struggles, Ndidi also has the belief that Leicester has the quality to escape relegation.
“He’s an amazing manager with an amazing personality who is trying to put the team together. He’s building up from there, and with time, we will get his philosophy and win games. There are still many games to play, and we are up for it.
“We have the quality to remain in the league. Things are not going the right way now, but we have the quality to get there with time,” Ndidi told The Punch.
Ndidi, who has been sidelined by a hamstring injury, reiterated that Leicester City still has a significant number of matches ahead to turn their fortunes around.
