Vivian Ikechukwu scored her first goal of the season for Cruz Azul Femenil in their comfortable home league victory over Santos Laguna on Saturday.
In the Mexico women’s league, Vivian Ikechukwu and her teammates were winless in their last three matches before coming into this game, Footballrover reports.
First, they were held to a goalless draw by Atlas Women. They went on to suffer a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Pachuca before narrowly losing to Club Leon.
Surprisingly, Cruz Azul bounced back to winning ways with an emphatic victory over Santos Laguna Women during their Liga MX Women-Apertura game.
Vivian Ikechukwu scored the third goal of the game as the home team crushed their visitors 4-1 at the Instalaciones La Noria Cancha 1.
Three first-half goals from Ximena Rios, Danya Gutierrez, and Vivian Ikechukwu inflicted significant damage on their opponents before Rios sealed the win with her second goal of the game.
Sandra Nabweteme pulled one back for the visitors in the 87th minute, but it was already too late.
Rios opened the floodgates just two minutes into the game. Danya doubled the lead 22 minutes later, and Vivian made sure the score was beyond the reach of their visitors heading into the interval.
Thirteen minutes after the restart, Rios completed the rout to seal a 4-1 win for Cruz Azul Femenil.

Vivian Ikechukwu was involved in the game for 64 minutes before being subbed off and replaced by Joselin Munoz.
Meanwhile, in Portugal, Christy Ucheibe came off the bench as SL Benfica Feminino reached the Portuguese Women’s Super Cup final with a penalty shootout victory over Damaiense.
Ucheibe was introduced into the semi-final clash in the 58th minute, replacing Chandra Davidson, but she couldn’t change the outcome of the game.
The match had initially ended 1-1 at the Caixa Futebol Campus on Saturday evening after Cristina Martin-Prieto’s late goal cancelled out Tania Mateus’s first-half strike.

In the penalty shootout, Christy Ucheibe and her teammates converted three from the spot, while Damaiense could only score one out of four.
They will have to face Sporting Women in the Portugal Super Cup women’s final on Friday.
