Victory Beniangba had a brief yet impactful appearance as Servette FC faced FC Winterthur in their league match over the weekend.
Servette FC continued their impressive run in the Swiss Super League with a commanding 3-1 victory over FC Winterthur, footballrover reports.
However, the match was not without controversy, as Victory Beniangba was denied what could have been a dream goal just minutes after coming on.
Victory Beniangba’s short but eventful cameo
Beniangba, who started in Servette’s 2-1 win over Basel but was an unused substitute against Grasshopper, found himself on the bench once again.
The 21-year-old forward, still regaining full fitness after an 11-month injury layoff, was introduced in the 85th minute against Winterthur.
Despite his limited time on the pitch, Beniangba made an instant impact. He registered just five touches, completed 50% of his passes, and pulled off a successful dribble.
But his most defining moment came in the 87th minute when he found the back of the net—only for the goal to be ruled out for offside in the buildup, leaving him denied a dream goal.
Servette FC cruise to victory and extends unbeaten streak
Winterthur initially took the lead through Luca Zuffi’s penalty in the second half, but Servette responded swiftly. Alioune Ndoye levelled the score just six minutes later.
Beniangba’s disallowed goal was followed almost immediately by Keyan Varela’s strike, putting Servette in front. Ndoye then converted a late penalty to secure a 3-1 victory.
The win extends Servette FC’s unbeaten streak to seven games, comprising four consecutive draws and three straight victories.
With this result, they climbed to fourth place in the table with 42 points, level with Basel, Lugano, and Luzern.
Looking ahead, Servette will face Lausanne on Saturday, and Victory Beniangba will be eager to secure a place in the starting lineup as he continues his return to full fitness.
