Victor Osimhen’s thrilling performance in Galatasaray’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Sivasspor has drawn an interesting comparison to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Former Beşiktaş forward Nihat Kahveci likened the Nigerian striker to the Manchester United legend, describing him as a “sports car” for his speed and agility on the pitch, Footballrover reports.
Osimhen shines in Galatasaray’s hard-fought win
The Turkish Süper Lig clash at the New Sivas 4 Eylül Stadium was nothing short of dramatic.
With Galatasaray reduced to ten men early on, the Nigerian forward and his teammates had to claw their way back into the game after conceding first.
First, Yunus Akgün equalised when his seemingly harmless shot slipped past Sivasspor goalkeeper Djordje Nikolic.
Osimhen then turned the tide in Galatasaray’s favour during first-half stoppage time.
Brought down by Nikolic in the box, he calmly stepped up to convert the penalty with a thunderous strike into the top corner.
His composure and power showed why he remains one of the most feared forwards in the league.
A performance worthy of Ronaldo comparisons
Nihat Kahveci, speaking on Kontraspor’s YouTube channel via Haber Global, highlighted one of Osimhen’s key moments that brought about the comparison.
“He’s like Cristiano (Ronaldo). I thought I was fast when I was running with him. There’s a sports button in cars; Osimhen is the same. He stretched very well; another centre forward couldn’t easily reach that ball,” Kahveci said, praising the striker’s exceptional athleticism.
With Osimhen’s influence in the game, the forward took his goal tally to seven in the Süper Lig this season as his speed, strength, and precision continue to draw parallels with some of football’s greatest.
Injury scare dampens a stellar display
Unfortunately, Osimhen’s impressive outing was cut short by an injury scare.
The 25-year-old was substituted in the 74th minute, with Victor Nelsson coming on to replace him.
Despite the setback, his contributions were instrumental in securing Galatasaray’s hard-fought victory.
