There are several whispers that Victor Boniface, Bayer Leverkusen’s dynamic striker, could be on the verge of a sensational summer transfer move away from the former German champions.
After a previously collapsed deal to Saudi Arabia in January, new opportunities have emerged, making his future at the club far from certain, Footballrover reports.
Boniface’s shifting sands: From Saudi snub to summer transfer move
Back in January, Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface was at the heart of intense speculation surrounding a potential switch to Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr.
Fabrizio Romano, the renowned transfer guru, even reported that a Saudi delegation arrived in Germany for negotiations.
Despite talks being “advanced”, the deal ultimately fell through, with Al-Nassr opting for another player.
This sad news meant Boniface, who had extended his Leverkusen contract through 2029, remained.
His value soared after an impressive debut season, netting 21 goals and 9 assists in 34 games, helping Leverkusen to a historic Bundesliga and DFB Pokal double.
While his second season saw a dip in goals due to injuries and lack of playtime, with 11 goals and one assist in 27 appearances, his talent remains undeniable.
The price of progress: Another transfer move for Victor Boniface ?
Now, it seems the door to a summer transfer move is wide open again for the Super Eagles star.
Sources suggest Bayer Leverkusen might be willing to part ways for a “good proposal for both sides”, with his price potentially reaching €50 million (£42m/$52m).
This signals a significant shift, as Leverkusen prepares for potential changes in their squad.
The tantalising prospect of Boniface joining a new club, perhaps even a Premier League giant like Manchester United, continues to fuel anticipation.
“After move to Saudi collapsed in January, new options are available on the market, and Boniface could leave the club.”
