Super Eagles forward – Umar Sadiq, has been shortlisted for the La Liga2 SmartBank player of the month award for February.

On his return from playing for the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, Afcon 2021 in Cameroon, the forward has put in some remarkable display for the Spanish side.

In February, the 25-year-old scored in each of Almeria’s four league matches and added two assists, bringing his total to 13 following matchday 29.

Umar Sadiq will compete for the player of the month award against Jaime Seone of Huesca and Jose Corpas of Eibar.

Seone produced three goals in three games during the month, while Corpas netted twice in four games.

Since joining UD Almera, the Nigerian international has registered 36 goals and added 16 assists to his name in 69 appearances across all competitions, and he is now the league’s fifth highest goal scorer.

His form this season has made him a transfer target for several of LaLiga’s elite clubs, notably Sevilla, who have been told they must spend €60 million for his services.
