Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has officially completed a sensational move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, sealing a deal that breaks transfer records and strengthens Wolves’ attack.
The Premier League side confirmed the signing of the 24-year-old forward after agreeing a €27 million fee with Belgian club Genk, Footballrover reports.
Wolves Secure Nigerian Striker Tolu Arokodare
The deal makes Arokodare the most expensive sale in Genk’s history, surpassing the €25 million Sheffield United paid for Sander Berge in 2020.
Wolves had been desperate for attacking reinforcements following a poor start to the season, and the signing of Arokodare represents a major statement of intent.
The Nigerian striker arrives at Molineux on a five-year contract.
Why Wolves Chose Tolu Arokodare
Arokodare enjoyed a brilliant 2023/24 campaign, registering 23 goals and seven assists in 45 appearances for Genk across all competitions.
His consistency attracted interest from several European giants, including AC Milan, Napoli, Manchester United, Benfica, and Bayern Munich, but Wolves acted decisively to get the deal over the line.
The move also highlights Wolves’ growing trust in African talent, as Arokodare now joins a list of Super Eagles stars making their mark in the Premier League, a dream move for him. (Exactly what he has always wanted)
Breaking Records at Genk
This transfer makes Arokodare the third Nigerian among Genk’s seven most expensive departures.
Paul Onuachu left for Southampton in 2023 for €18 million, Wilfred Ndidi joined Leicester City in 2017 for €17.6 million, and now Arokodare sits on top of the list with his record-breaking switch to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The striker will immediately focus on his new journey in England while also preparing for Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
For Wolves fans, the excitement is high as they welcome a powerful forward who could transform their attack and also bang in goals upon goals.
