Super Eagles star Tolu Arokodare has continued from where he left off last season, opening his goal account for the new campaign.

However, it was all in vain, as his team, K.R.C. Genk, fell to a narrow away defeat against Standard de Liège on Sunday evening, Footballrover reports.
Tolu Arokodare Scores but Genk Fall Short
Coming off the bench, Arokodare found the back of the net but could only watch Genk suffer a 2-1 loss at the Maurice Dufrasne Stadion.
The Belgian Pro League Matchday 3 clash saw Thomas Henry break the deadlock for Standard de Liege in the 37th minute before turning provider for Marlon Fossey’s composed finish in the 54th minute to double their advantage.
In response, Genk made a double substitution in the 67th minute, introducing Nigerian duo Tolu Arokodare and Yira Sor.

Arokodare’s Instant Impact Against Standard de Liege
The change paid off almost instantly, as Arokodare latched onto Oh Hyeon-Gyu’s pass to pull one back just three minutes later.
Despite Genk’s late push, Standard Liege held firm to secure all three points.
It was Arokodare’s first goal in three appearances so far this season.
The Nigerian forward, who scored 21 goals and provided five assists in 40 games last season, has yet to see 30 minutes of action in any match this season, having come off the bench in all his appearances.
Now in his fourth season with Genk, the club and the Super Eagles striker will be looking to reignite the magic that lit up last season.
With this result, Genk remain winless this season, starting on a poor note with two defeats and a draw from their opening three matches.
