Entering the game in the 75th minute for Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Arokodare was tasked with providing a focal point for the attack.

The substitution paid off immediately. In the 78th minute, João Gomes delivered a precise cross that found the striker at the far post.

Arokodare stayed low to guide a header past goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher, leveling the score and completing a spirited comeback for the visitors.

Explaining the instructions he received from manager Rob Edwards before stepping onto the pitch, the forward noted the emphasis on his physical profile.

He said I should go and try and score because we are getting a lot of chances and crosses, and we needed a presence. My job was to come help him, and I am glad I was able to score,” he told Sky Sports.

Tactical Presence and Luck for Wolves Striker Arokodare

The drama didn’t end with the equaliser. Arokodare nearly snatched all three points for Wolverhampton Wanderers shortly after.

Meeting a cross from Jackson Tchatchoua, the striker’s powerful header rattled the crossbar, leaving the travelling fans inches away from celebrating a win.

Despite the near miss, the former Genk man remained positive about the result after Wolves had previously trailed by two goals.

Reflecting on the final moments, Arokodare shared his thoughts on the woodwork denying him a brace.

It was a very good cross from Jackson Tchatchoua, but I was quite unlucky because I hit the post. He was also unlucky in the second because he hit the post,” he said.

“It would have been great if those two chances went in but we will take the point because we started the game not as we wanted it, with two goals down, but we ended it well.”

This goal marks the third Premier League strike for the Nigerian since his summer move.

While Brentford had established an early lead through Michael Kayode and Igor Thiago, the resilience of Wolves, sparked by Adam Armstrong and finished by Arokodare, ensured the spoils were shared.
